Fireworks should always contain instructions on how to use them properly, a specified storage time, as well as manufacturer and importer information. If fireworks are sold unpacked, buyers should obtain the instructions separately.
Fireworks are forbidden for using near hospitals, educational institutions, kindergartens, and churches. One must not explode them from 22 till 8 o'clock, except holidays. People who break the rules for using fireworks are liable for a fine of 50-100 litas.
To avoid tragedy, experts from the Department of Fire Prevention And Rescue advise on how to use fireworks.
Do not buy fireworks in markets or in places where this is forbidden by the self-government. Before using the pyrotechnic device read the instruction attentively. Take from the packing only a few petards. Close the package at once. Fireworks are used only in the street, except for devices of low power which can be used also at home. Put explosives as far as possible from people, buildings, and cars. When using fireworks in a crowd, don’t point them towards other people. Do not hold an explosive in hand long while. Kindle putting out a hand and immediately take it away. Put batteries, and rockets only on a smooth, fireproof surface. Blowing up rockets, volcanoes, and fountains, direct them upwards. The malfunctioned pyrotechnic devices can be dangerous. If the fireworks don’t work at once, don’t try to kindle them any more and approach to them not earlier, than in 15 minutes. Do not disassemble explosives as it is dangerous not only for you, but also for surrounding people.
Buy firecrackers with your children and always participate in their ignition
Don’t accumulate fireworks because they require specific conditions of storage. They must be protected from sources of heat, moisture and impact of other materials that can cause their damage and decomposition. Explosives cannot be stored together with combustible or inflammable materials.
Never leave highly combustible materials on the balconies of residential buildings on New Year’s Eve. If because of carelessly launched explosive devices there sprung up a fire, call firemen immediately. It is better to extinguish the subjects lighted up from pyrotechnic products, if these are not devices with electric tension, with water or a suitable for extinction fabric, for example felt.
