[DOCU] "Passfire" van de broers Veverka

The Passfire team is back in the US and ready to document America's amazing fireworks culture, starting with the 4th of July, where consumer fireworks from respected firms like Black Cat Fireworks light up people's backyards in fireworks-friendly states across the country.

We are currently in the Ithaca, NY area and are looking forward to working with some of the area's pyrotechnicians and firms such as Martinez Specialties, Inc. and Proximity Pyrotechnics.

In the meantime here is another picture of the handiwork of the Bangkok Pyro Holidays crew - handmade 4" spiderweb canister shells.

Here is one of the coolest fireworks pictures ever taken: Stephen Hawking poses with his 2013 stash from Epic Fireworks that he purchased to celebrate Bonfire Night. (Photo courtesy of Stephen Hawking and Epic Fireworks).

Like Nobel Laureate Sir Richard Roberts (whom we posted about previously) Hawking is another highly accomplished scientist who endorses fireworks.

Hawking, a long-time enthusiast, used to experiment with building fireworks in his youth and now likes to celebrate his birthday as well as the 5th of November with a Big Bang.

The Fifth of November, also known as Guy Fawkes Day or Bonfire Night, commemorates the successful disruption of Fawkes' plan to blow up the British Parliament on November 5th, 1605.

Passfire had the pleasure of visiting Epic's showroom today, after a stop at Standard and Black Cat Fireworks the day before, as both companies wind down from Bonfire Night, the UK's biggest fireworks season.

Ben heel erg benieuwd wanneer ze klaar zijn met deze film. Ze hebben al 300 uur aan filmmateriaal :bonk:
Hierna willen ze nog naar Mexico, Spanje, Italië, Malta en Griekenland. Het ziet er in ieder geval veel belovend uit!
 
Ik was een beetje erg stomverbaasd dat ze nog niet naar Spanje, Italië en Malta waren geweest? Heb ik eerder gedoneerd om hen die belangrijke vuurwerklanden tot het laatst te laten liggen, en nou hebben ze nog meer geld van me nodig om daar alsnog heen te tuffen? $35 om een dvd te krijgen die ik al krijg op basis van de eerdere donatie. Tja...ze hebben geweldige dingen daar in Azië gefilmd, zeker weten, en ik kijk naar de docu en serie uit, maar dat ze die belangrijke en bijzondere Europese vuurwerklanden zo lang links hebben laten liggen :bonk:
 
Nogal ambitieus project, en idd vreemd dat Spanje, Italie en Malta niet zijn aangedaan. Dit zijn landen die voor veel vuurwerkliefhebbers meer tot de verbeelding spreken, waardoor ze ook meer donaties hadden kunnen binnenhalen denk ik...

Hoelang gaat het nog duren dat die film er is man. Die gasten zijn slim, hele wereld zien op kosten van anderen. Blij dat ik er niet aan mee heb gedaan. En nu willen ze nog meer

Het is hier al een hele tijd stil en ben toch wel benieuwd of er al een film is? Kan zelf namelijk niets vinden. Ze zijn nou al ruim 2 jaar bezig en reizen heel de wereld rond op centen van hun donateurs... Vind het maar een vage bedoeling.

Passfire in Post Production!

With the inclusion of Australia last month, Passfire has officially entered the post production phase and successfully fulfilled its mission of documenting the human fascination with fireworks on every continent in the world. This is a monumental accomplishment and nothing like this has been done before.

North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia - you'll see it all in the film. But first we need to edit it and with 500 hours of footage, there is a lot of work ahead!

So just what is post production?

Imagine making a fine meal. "Production" is the part when you visit many different shops and select the best ingredients, "post production" is the part where you actually cook those ingredients into delicious food.

In the case of Passfire that means tasks like logging (building a database with descriptions of all the footage we have), transcribing (writing down what people say in interviews), motion graphics (computer animation), editing (assembling the footage into a film), focus groups (getting feedback on rough cuts of the film from a test audience), revision (making the rough cut better), scoring (creating and adding original music), narration (adding celebrity narration) and color correction (making sure that every scene in the completed film "pops").

So how long does all this take?

We are working as fast as we can, but just like cooking a fine meal, this is not a process we want to rush. Our goal remains what it always had been: to make Passfire the best documentary on fireworks ever seen.

New Speaking Dates in February:

We will be venturing out to the Western Pyrotechnics Association's Western Winter Blast this week and then the American Pyrotechnic Association's Winter Educational conference the following week where we will be presenting an updated sneak peek of the film along with a presentation explaining the post production process. So if you are attending one of these events, please be sure to stop by.

The speaking dates are as follows:

1) February 11, 2015, 9:00PM: Short video presentation at the WPA's "pre-glow" party, Lake Havasu, AZ

2) February 15, 2015, 1PM: Passfire sneak-peek and presentation, WPA, Lake Havasu, AZ

3) February 18, 2015, 9AM: Short video presentation at APA's welcome breakfast, Las Vegas, NV

4) February 19, 2015, 11:30AM: Passfire sneak-peek and presentation, Black Cat Conference (at APA), Las Vegas, NV

What if you aren't attending one of these events? Don't worry, we also have some speaking dates coming up in April and will be making some materials available online as well.

Geen idee nog, ga er vanmiddag of vanavond even voor zitten denk.
Het is inderdaad maar 1 dvd maar er staat wel heel veel beeld materiaal op.

Zonder gekheid, ik zie deze topic nu pas. Tof project ! Zijn ze uiteindelijk nog in Europa geweest ?
 
Ziet er tof uit, hier nog niet binnen helaas.
Ben benieuwd, want de digitale versie moeten we ook ontvangen, maar heb daar nog niets van gezien.

Verwachtingen zijn wel enorm hoog, want de productie is 3 jaar later dan gepland, dan mág je ook wel meer verwachten. :p
 
Eindelijk is hij er dan, hopelijk het wachten meer dan waard voor iedereen die hem besteld heeft.
Ben zeer benieuwd naar de beelden.
 
Ik ben ook zeer benieuwd wanneer ik hem krijg :wink: maar het begin is er...hij is iig verstuurd, ik hem mijn gegevens ook reeds ingevuld....dus moet binnenkort in de brievenbus vallen :D
