The festival of the Valencian Community, in this way, will lose the mold of emblematic celebrations, led by the Civic Procession, which begins with the descent of the "senyera" to the statue of Jaume I. «Mascletà» and demonstrations
The rest of the acts that would be affected include the "mascletà" after that offering and the Entry of Moors and Christians with which the day ends. This year, in addition, this celebration was already organized in a special way, with a smaller group but which, at the same time, wanted to include a representation of the festivities suspended in the previous months (Fallas, Holy Week, San Vicente, la dansà a the Virgin ...).
It remains to be determined what happens with the evening demonstrations, of a different political nature but which, by the same logic, would also be suspended. "Everything seems to indicate that the acts that involve the concentration of people cannot be carried out," insisted the mayor, repeating the phrase "everything seems to indicate up to two times." We do not take anything for canceled, because we need to see the data, but it is for the current indicators.
The popular "dansà" of the day before and events that take place on the occasion of the celebration, such as the "9 d'Octubre a Russafa" or the tributes to the Senyera organized by the Fallas groups would also be left out of the program. del Marítim and Camins al Grau.
The mayor also recalled the need to coordinate with other institutions. This includes the Provincial Council, since it is the one that organizes the Fireworks Festival, and the Generalitat, which wanted to pay tribute to the victims of the pandemic.
The acts that are still endured
What could be celebrated? Well, what allows establishing safety distances. The most important would be the display of the "Senyera" in the Glass Room "but with rigorous standards to avoid risks of contagion." Program in hand and in current conditions, tending to restriction, there would still be hope for concerts and street storytellers. The "Tirant de Lletra" of Na Jordana has a certain margin of survival, as well as the tourist routes through the historic center and the opening of palace doors. The Generalitat would have to decide on its open days and for a reduced version of the delivery of its prizes and distinctions, as well as that alleged tribute to the victims. And the Archdiocese would keep the Te Deum. All this, with the current parameters.
The Federation of Moors and Christians will propose in assembly to suspend the Medieval Market, for a matter of prudence and the Guild of Dressmakers would have to suspend its procession.
The planned cancellation of the mass celebrations has no other cause than the domino effect that major events have suffered in Spanish society. In Valencia, all the other similar events have been falling, from Fallas: Holy Week, San Vicente, Virgen, Corpus or Gran Fira.
The party of all Valencians was already surrounded by other cancellations. In the city, the half marathon. Zaragoza had already suspended its main festival, that of Pilar, and the Armed Forces Day parade in Madrid was also suppressed.
Marathon and Christmas, in the air

For the moment, the Marathon remains called, since it could even have a reduced version, designed in the exclusive presence of elite athletes (including, who knows, the search for the world record with the presence of the best, who have not been able to contest any test throughout the year). And things have to change a lot so that the Fallas 2021, an event with which the circle of a full year would be closed, is a reality as close to that of a lifetime.
