Aantal gewonden door vuurwerk tijdens eindejaardagen in periode 2013-2016 verdubbeld

Het aantal ongevallen met vuurwerk waarbij gewonden vallen is tijdens de afgelopen eindejaarsperiodes toegenomen. Tijdens de eindejaarsdagen in 2013-2014 vielen er 9 gewonden, in 2014-2015 5, in 2016-2016 15 en in 2016-2017 20. Dat blijkt uit het antwoord van minister van Werk Kris Peeters op een schriftelijke vraag van Leen Dierick (CD&V).

Peeters baseert zich hierbij op informatie die de FOD Economie opvroeg bij de spoedgevallendiensten van ziekenhuizen. In de meerderheid van de gevallen waren de slachtoffers mannelijk en van jonge leeftijd.

Van de 18 slachtoffers (van de 20) die tijdens de eindejaarsperiode 2016-2017 gewond geraakten en waarvan men identiteitsgegevens bezit, waren er 14 mannelijk en 12 minderjarig. Bij controles door de FOD Economie tijdens de eindejaarsperiode 2016-2017 van 23 stalen werden in 19 gevallen problemen met het functioneren vastgesteld.

In 10 gevallen waren deze problemen groot genoeg om de artikelen van de markt te halen. Negen artikelen met een ernstig risico werden aan andere EU-landen gesignaleerd via het Rapid Alert System (RAPEX).

Wel vreemd dat producten uit de markt worden gehaald maar dat er (nog) geen terug roep actie is.
In Belgie word het hele jaar vuurwerk verkocht dus deze deze producten liggen mogelijk al bij consumenten thuis.
Een importeur/winkel zou deze producten zo snel mogelijk moeten terug roepen.

Alle artikelen waarbij gehoorschade op kan treden, zijn gewoon over de dB grens gegaan. Lijkt me weinig spannends. Dat lonten niet vast zitten of te kort zijn is natuurlijk een ander verhaal.
