The 9th Edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival will be organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority. Grand Harbour will once again provide the perfect setting for this event, which will take place on the 29th and 30th of April 2010.

Zo, dit lijkt me ook al een tijdje zeer interessant!
Schieten ze hier ook die machtige Baraq salutes?
En is het echt een meerdaags festival, of worden alle shows op 1 avond/nacht geschoten?
Op de genoemde website staan namelijk niet echt veel info, en ook nog eens van 2009..

Is tot nu toe altijd een meerdaags festival geweest van 2 dagen, de zogenaamde baraq shells worden ook geschoten ja.
Leuk festival is het, nu 2x geweest en beide keren prachtig vuurwerk gezien:)

The Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority will be organizing the 8th edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival. The Grand Harbour will once again provide the perfect setting for this event, which will take place on Thursday, April 29 and Friday, April 30The festival shall also form part of the 6th Anniversary Celebrations of Malta’s accession into the European Union. (2004).

Participating in the festival will be numerous Maltese and two Italian Fireworks Companies. Orzella Fireworks Company of Rome will open the first evening on April 29. There will be numerous fireworks displays synchronized to music. This will be coupled with a variety of competitive displays by numerous Maltese fireworks factories. A fireworks display synchronized to music will close the event on each evening. One of these will be designed by the Santa Maria Fireworks Factory of Mqabba and the other will be designed by the Mount Carmel Fireworks Factory of Zurriq. On April 30, the world renowned Parente Fireworks Company of Italy will be closing the festival with its own grand pyro-musical display.

The best view points to enjoy the fireworks displays will be from Barriera Wharf on the Valletta sea front or else from on top of the bastions of the capital city Grand Harbour.

Vurig vuurwerkfestival op Malta

Malta maakt zich klaar voor de negende editie van het ‘Malta International Fireworks festival’ op 29 en 30 april. Dit jaarlijks terugkerende vuurwerkfestijn wordt georganiseerd door onder meer de Malta Tourism Authority en is te zien in de haven, de Grand Harbour in de hoofdstad Valletta.

Malta wordt ook wel het vuurwerkeiland genoemd. Meer dan 35 vuurwerkfabriekjes produceren hier hun eigen vuurwerk, dat jaarlijks wordt afgestoken ter ere van de beschermheilige van hun dorp.

In samenwerking met het Parlementair secretariaat voor Toerisme organiseert de Malta Tourism Authority jaarlijks dit internationale vuurwerkfestival in de Grand Harbour in Valletta. De historische haven is een mooie locatie voor dit evenement, dat dit jaar plaatsvindt op 29 en 30 april. Tijdens dit festival wordt ook gevierd dat Tevens zal tijdens dit festival worden gevierd dat Malta op 1 mei 2004 lid werd van de Europese Unie.

Het festival barst op beide avonden om 21.30 uur los met een 15 minuten durende vuurwerkshow van buitenlandse vuurwerkmakers van over de hele wereld. Daarna vertonen 13 lokale vuurwerkbedrijfjes hun kunsten. In beide categorieën is een toffee en een pot met prijzengeld te winnen.

Malta klaar voor Vuurwerk Festival

Ga naar de Med deze maand voor de Malta International Fireworks Festival. De Grand Harbour zal het decor voor het festival, dat plaatsvindt op 29 en 30 april.

De beste uitkijkpunten om het spektakel te genieten zal zijn van Barriera Wharf aan het Valletta zee of van de bastions van de haven.

Er zullen veel van displays gesynchroniseerd met de muziek over de twee nachten, met een verscheidenheid van de Maltese vuurwerk fabrieken te concurreren voor de beste weergave.

Vuurwerk op Malta hebben een lange traditie die teruggaat tot de tijd van de Orde van de Ridders van Sint Jan. De feu de joie de musketterija de solfarelli d'aria, St. Catherine's wielen (irdieden) en andere vormen van vuurwerk, afkomstig van explosieven die werden ontstoken uit mortieren bij speciale gelegenheden, zoals de verkiezing van een Grand Master of de geboorte van een prins.

Deze eeuwenoude traditie is nog steeds springlevend in de drukke agenda van het dorp feesten die plaatsvinden in heel Malta en Gozo.

Wat een gruwelijk waanzinnige effecten hebben die shells, Fred onwijs bedankt voor het delen. Ik heb het wel drie keer bekeken en kon er geen genoeg van krijgen :wink:
 
Għaxaq's Sta Marija Fireworks Factory win festival

Sta Marija Fireworks Factory of Għaxaq has won the eighth international fireworks festival held over Grand Harbour on Thursday and yesterday.

La Stella Fireworks Factory of Gudja were placed second and the St Bartholomew Fireworks Factory of Għargħur, third, the Parliamentary Secretariat of Culture and the Malta Tourism Authority said.

Six local fireworks factories took part in this competition. The adjudication was carried out by a panel of three foreign experts in pyrotechnics, chaired by Joseph Theuma, secretary to the Malta Pyrotechnics Association.

The adjudication was based on quality of colours produced, quality of shells, originality of the product, and the overall presentation.
